Hello, my name is Christian.
This is my trading journal, and thank you for taking the time to read it. For those who already know me, I have kept this journal before from 2019 to 2021. Unfortunately, focus was lost during that time as I devoted myself to other things like YouTube videos and Twitter posts. During that time, I tried a lot of things, but what I didn’t do was trade consistently profitably.
But before we go any deeper, a step back for new readers: Who am I, and why am I writing this blog?
As already mentioned, my name is Christian and, at the time of writing, I am 39 years old. My professional background is maritime, having served nine years in the Navy, among other things. Why am I mentioning this? Well, on board a ship, I got to know many people and observed their psychology. Especially in confined spaces, people often act differently than in their familiar surroundings at home. I would even go so far as to say that a person’s true nature often comes to light on a ship.
But how does that relate to my trading? At the time, I had no idea what trading or the stock market even was. But the lessons I learned during my time in the Navy – such as patience, resilience, and an understanding of human behavior – are helping me be a better trader today in 2025.
The beginning of my trading journey
It all started in 2016, when I first became consciously interested in trading on the stock market. The trigger was a lunch break during my training as a certified engineer. My colleagues were talking about commodity trading, gold and prices going up and down, and claimed that it was “easy”.
So I did what many people in this situation probably would do: I watched two YouTube videos, signed up with any broker and transferred 2,000 euros. Within four days, I had a 50% drawdown.
The next day, I confronted my colleagues and asked them why they claimed it was so easy. Their answer: they were trading on a demo account.
I was angry – at them, but also at myself for being so gullible. But instead of giving up and demonizing everything related to capital gains (a very German mentality that puts saving above all else), I decided to learn more about the subject.
I opened a demo account and started to research the topic more intensively. There were so many resources that I can’t list them all here. Some of them were helpful, others were not. What was particularly striking was the abundance of signal groups, overpriced coaching and unrealistic promises of quick riches.
Why a public trading journal?
However, one thing was missing back then (2016–2019): a trading diary that transparently shows a trader’s journey. No sugar-coated success, but an honest insight into losses, profits, and the emotional ups and downs.
Therefore, I decided to convert my analog diary into a digital journal that is publicly accessible.
Retrospective: 2019 to 2024
During these years, I tried a lot. From countless strategies to pointless trades and emotional ups and downs – I went through every phase of a beginner. In doing so, I not only earned scorn and ridicule, but also made valuable contacts that I still maintain today.
Now: 2025 and a fresh start
Today, after all these years, I’ve made it: I’m trading with a funded account at a reputable prop trading firm. This moment was incredibly emotional for me – a milestone that took a load off my shoulders.
I would like to revive this blog to document my journey. I hope that this time I will show continuity and provide valuable insights.
So please join me on this journey, ask me questions, and let’s grow together.
Thank you for taking the time. I look forward to your comments!
Until then,
Yours sincerely, Christian
